- Campers of all identities and backgrounds are encouraged to participate.
- Canoeing and remote camping experience is not necessary, but comfort around water is important as we will be canoeing and swimming nearly every day.
- All food and group gear is provided, including tents, canoes, tarps, cooking equipment, maps, and journals.
- Campers sleep in tents at a campsite on the Green River Reservoir, which we canoe to as a group.
- We use tarps for shelter in shared spaces and get to enjoy a week of living outdoors with no running water, electricity, or permanent structures aside from a moldering toilet (a waterless toilet that composts human waste) on a raised platform.
- Throughout the camp, we paddle, hike, swim, play and learn together, exploring the reservoir and our individual and collective stories about environmental justice, equity and inclusion.
- Family Camps are a great fit for younger campers attending with adult family members. Children under two years old who register with two adults attend free of charge.
- The teen and young adult camps will feature guest teachers, more adventures, and a deeper dive into the core areas of our curriculum.
- Grandparents day is a day for grandparents and grandchildren to connect on the water! Facilitated water excursion with all the gear provided. All ages welcome! Please be prepared to paddle.
Water Wanderings' Commitment
We are committed to ensuring that campers from all backgrounds can attend Water Wanderings. Our sliding scale is designed so that the cost of attending Water Wanderings does not put a disproportionate burden on families with limited financial means. If the sliding scale does not meet your family's needs, you are welcome to apply for additional financial aid. In recognition of racism in outdoor recreation and environmental injustice, Water Wanderings prioritizes campers who identify as Black/African American, indigenous/Native American, Asian, Arab, Latinx, multiracial, or people of color in our allocation of financial aid.
Our high camper-counselor ratio, small group size, unique curriculum, experienced staff, and commitment to sourcing from small businesses and farmers makes the full cost of Water Wanderings camps on the higher end.* We could not offer our sliding scale or financial aid without the support of our donors, sponsors and volunteers, as well as high income families, whose tuition helps to balance out our revenue and ensure we can make ends meet.
*Our donors and volunteers supplement camper registration fees for all campers on the lower end of the sliding scale. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to support the scholarship fund, please visit our Giving page.

Our Sliding ScaleOur sliding scale has six tuition levels based on household adjusted gross annual income. These tuition rates apply to all campers except children under two years old, who are welcome to attend free of charge when accompanied by two adults.* If the sliding scale does not meet the needs of your family, you are welcome to request financial aid or barter goods or services such as guest teaching, food, and gear.
*Children under two who attend camp with one adult are charged half price for tuition and their older siblings cannot attend without a second adult.
